The Vicar Designate Writes
Now that my appointment as vicar of St. Margaret’s has been announced, I just wanted to take this opportunity to say hello. It is a great privilege for me & my family to come and be a part of the church and the wider community in Rainham.
St. Margaret’s has stood at the heart of Rainham for just under 700 years, serving the needs of the community and its people. We are really excited to be joining this rich tapestry and tradition of service. It is our job as a Christian community to carry on and sustain the threads of this rich tapestry, taking care to weave in new threads to expand the tapestry and to ensure the church meets the needs of our community. That is something we should do together, taking a lead where we have a heart for something, and other times making the tea and supporting others as they follow their passions. I hope we will all have fun along the way!
I am really looking forward to coming and working alongside all of you. I have already experienced the joy of meeting your Churchwardens, of meeting Kate in the office (who shares a passion for camper vans with Kayleigh, my wife), the PCC and James and Jonathan. I can only thank everyone for the time and effort they have put in to this process so far and look forward to getting to know all of you and all that you do to contribute to the great tapestry that is St. Margaret’s.
My induction will be on Saturday 21st April at 2.30pm and I look forward to meeting you there as I join in the journey that St Margaret’s is on. We do so knowing that God has gone before us, and that His Spirit is guiding us and spurring us on.
With much love,
